I love those two top panels—they tell a story in a smart, economical way that could not be specifically reproduced in another medium. They are the opening to a story with important content, but they’re also an elegant use of form that makes my head swoon.
This is one kick-ass comic. Click through and read the whole thing.
“The act of dreaming is important in itself.
I wish you an endless flood of dreams
And the intense desire
to make some of them come true.
I wish you love for what should be loved
And forgetting for what should be forgotten.
I wish you passions.
I wish you silences.
I wish you birdsong on awakening
And the laughter of children.
I wish you resistance to being
Resistance to indifference,
Resistance to the negative virtues of our age.
Above all, I wish you to be yourself.”—Jacques Brel (via thestylishgypsy)
“This life is what you make it. No matter what, you’re going to mess up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they’ll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they’re your true best friends. Don’t let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they’ll come and go too. And baby, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can’t give up because if you give up, you’ll never find your soulmate. You’ll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn’t mean you’re gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don’t, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.”—Marilyn Monroe
“I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.”—Marilyn Monroe
I am getting more and more into makeup. It’s been happening for awhile but over the past year, my obsession with all things makeup has risen to new heights. I went from having a small little plastic bin to having two of the plastic sweater drawers from The Container Store full; and I think I am approaching the need for a third drawer. Any way, as a result of my obsession, YouTube has become one my go to places to learn how to do (in my case TRY) new looks. I’ll be posting some videos I like and pointing you in the general direction of the channels I follow and other links that I think might be helpful. I think my love of makeup is approaching my love of kitchen gadgets… That’s a scary thought (those who know me understand :) )
